Anthropology-Not Just A Teen Store

Image: Wikipedia
The study of Anthropology is an extremely broad topic, which can be narrowed down into several categories such as physical/biological, cultural, economical, and psychological. I have chosen to focus on biological anthropology in this blog. Biological Anthropology is the study of many different areas of research, and can often be merged with other areas of science, such as zoology or sociology. Nutrition, genetics, and human adaptation are all concepts that fall into Biological Anthropology. The major notions studied within this area of science are evolution, as well as human biosocial variation. Biological Anthropologists are capable of analyzing primates and skeletons in order to come up with conclusions about human evolution. In addition, they try to come to a conclusion of how, for example, humans have adjusted to the intense climates of the different parts of the world. Obviously, studies such as paleontology and archeology are apparent in the work of Biological Anthropologists, which makes Anthropology a very all-encompassing study of science.

This particular type of science really interests me, especially seeing as there are so many answers to be found in the research of Biological Anthropology. I would love to find out how humans have adapted to the earth, and how we have evolved from our relatives-the primates. I have always been curious about the concepts of adaptation and development of humans, so I think I would find a career in Biological Anthropology very rewarding. Another thing that is appealing to me about this science topic is what the anthropologists actually do. These scientists are able to write books, teach, and even work in law. This area of science truly meets my preferences, seeing as I would prefer to work in a field that I am actually interested in. I think I would be extremely attracted to this type of work, especially with the jobs I could be employed into. Biological Anthropologists are able to work for law, by using science to uncover fingerprints. I would prefer to work in an area such as this, because I would find it extremely fun.

This profession defiantly meets my goals, seeing as one of my goals is to work in a career I actually find truly interesting. I think anthropology is one of the most interesting types of science, seeing as it deals with the people we interact with each and every day. A goal for my life is to learn as much as I can about humans‘ adaptation and evolution, and I think this would definitely help me achieve this goal!
I am a visual learner, and Biological Anthropology includes a lot of graphs and diagrams. The Punnett Square, for example, is a diagram that can display how kids recieve the same/different genes than their parents. Obviously, Biological Anthropology would also include many pictures of skeletons and people from the past, which are utilized to compare people from different generations.

The legacy this type of profession has for the future is very bright. Obviously, the line of work of Biological Anthropology is going to be very much needed for the future. Seeing as this area of science also includes categories such as nutrition and children’s growth, it is necessary that we have detailed, specific, knowledge about it so the people of the future will be safe and healthy. Also, the concept of adaptation is important and will be important to know about because it will give us a basic outline about humans, which is vital.
The study of Biological Anthropology is a very complex, broad area of science. I think it would be really fun and interesting to be a scientist in this field, because it would allow me to gain knowledge very few people have.

This blog was very interesting and well written; good job! I was intrigued by how many different options Anthropology fields have. The possibilities are much greater than some other fields. Also, the graphics were fascinating to look at! I especially liked the difference between men many years ago to present day.

I also was incredibly surprised how many specialized fields there are of anthropology. I had figured anthropology was just one field and you did the basic studying of that field. I think its really interesting how biological anthropologists are able to studying primates and coming up with conclusions about human evolution.

I agree with Anna, I'd really had no idea how many parts of anthropology there were! (your title was really witty, by the way) I think anthropology would be a really cool and useful field to work in too.

Hmm....I thought anthropology was scientifically based and had not the slightest clue that it could be politically or economically based. It's interesting that you chose biological Anthropology and I hope you find the unknown secrets of evolution and of human kind; like Charles Darwin!

I wasn't sure what exactly anthropology was until I read this blog, but after I read that it focused a lot on Evolution, and adaption, it appealed very much today. I agree that this field is very important today for the future of humanity and science.

Very cool blog! I can totally see you getting into one or even many different fields within anthropology. It's interesting because there's lots more to be learned. You may discover something huge that could change the way we see things yet!
